The London Plan will not be the only mechanism to help achieve the CO2 reduction targets for London. However the London Plan plays an important role. The draft Further Alterations to the London Plan contain a number of policies that will aid delivery of our CO2 emissions reductions targets. These form an energy hierarchy, starting with energy efficient design and the supply of decentralised energy (these two will substantially reduce the energy requirements of a development) and thirdly specifying the use of on-site renewable energy. The alterations propose increasing this proportion of renewable energy from the current 10% to 20%. Progress towards these CO2 reduction targets will be monitored.
