Answer for Green Taxes

I do support environmental taxes. I have expressed views on a range of environmental tax matters, including moves in aviation within the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, fiscal measures to reduce demand for air travel, vehicle excise duties changes to road vehicles related to CO2 emissions, and reducing the amount of waste disposed of in landfills through the landfill tax. I have also provided evidence to the Lyons inquiry on using tax as an incentive for more environmentally responsible behaviour. I have, of course, recently concluded a major consultation with the Government and large organisations on the revisions to my Transport and Air Quality Strategies that necessitate the introduction of the low-emission zone in London, which would include a charge for the most polluting lorries, coaches and vans. I hope, and am confident, that the Liberal Democrats will continue to support me on these policies in London.
