TfL's trams and transit projects represent a key element of the investment required to support London's economic development and regeneration. The business cases for TfL's tram and transit schemes develop over time in parallel with the designs of each scheme. At present, the forecast patronage for WLT is 47million passengers per annum (ppa) in 2016, CRT is 66m ppa in 2016, ELT is 6.2m ppa in 2010, and GWT is 8.8m ppa in 2011. These figures will be subject to change as the design on each project progresses. TfL has begun work on a study to determine the scope of the technical parameters surrounding an Oxford Street tram, and has not yet commenced the development of a business case for the scheme.TfL is not proposing a tram along the A4, and is therefore not developing a business case for such a scheme.
