Investment strategies are being developed for all of the 100 Public Spaces Projects; they include where appropriate contributions from TfL and the LDA and other partners. In respect of the Albert Dock Basin project, the LDA is due to let an enabling contract for broader urban tie in works associated with a series of mixed use housing developments at Albert Dock Basin ' including the Mayor's Zero Carbon project at Gallions Park. These works will be the first step toward the formation of this Mayor's space known as `Gallions to the Thames'. Whilst there is currently no LDA budget allocated for the public space projects, additional funding is being sought from partners who have given an in principle agreement for this funding. Subject to final confirmation and appropriate approvals the creation of the Mayor's space will be incorporated into the above enabling works contract. More details will be provided once partner approvals have been given. Planning permission for this open space is due to be granted within the next few weeks. The contract for the enabling works is due to begin in late 2006, so subject to all approvals being put in place, it is anticipated that the work on this 100 public spaces project around Gallions DLR station can commence this financial year and be completed during 2007/8.
