Answer for London-wide Hazardous Household Waste Collection Service

The Corporation of London, on behalf of the London boroughs, has entered into two five-year contracts with hazardous waste collection companies for the London-wide collection and disposal of hazardous waste. One contract is for the collection and disposal of chemical waste, the other is for the collection and disposal of asbestos waste and both contracts expire 31 March 2009.The Corporation of London charges each borough a fixed annual amount for administration and contract costs and then invoices the authorities in arrears for the collections undertaken within their area. Approximately 1,500 collections are made each year, a pitifully small number given the number of households in London. I will seek expansion and advertising of this service so that is adequately services London's requirements.
