Question

Whilst you are charging on the basis of emissions, what about possibilities of switching to different fuel uses, like bio fuels, ethanol in particular? I think there is a case there that they should be charged a reduced rate of Congestion Charge, in between the exemption that electric battery cards have and what the standard rate is.

TfL are in discussions with the Government of Brazil about the use of their ethanol, and there is already now a discussion inside the European Union. Actually it would be better to convert a lot of the surplus farm produce, which is manically being produced when we cannot sell it, to produce bio fuels. Certainly we would love to see people in the Home Counties producing bio fuels and ethanol that we could actually use rather than having to import it from Brazil.
