Question

Do you think that removing free travel for under 16s due to criminal or anti-social behaviour is a workable deterrent when personal experience of the boarding buses across the network has shown that drivers rarely ask people who appear under the age of 16 for any form of identification?

TfL and I do think the threat of withdrawal is a workable deterrent to anti-social behaviour. Only children aged 14-15 must show an Oyster Photocard to qualify for the concession. Trials with bus operators are being conducted to improve bus driver focus on ticketing issues and the reporting of incidents of antisocial behaviour.
