In reply to my question in April 2004 regarding noise nuisance caused by the PA System at Putney Bridge Station, you agreed to investigate the level of announcements and to remedy the situation. This was done and the situation was remedied to the complete satisfaction of local residents. However, I have again been contacted by residents who are being plagued by loud announcements from the station. The system has recently been reset, and the volume has increased noticeably since this was done. Will you arrange for the PA system to be inspected and for noise levels to be measured with a view to reducing the volume to a tolerable level for residents as a matter of urgency.

The PA system at Putney Bridge Station has recently been checked by an engineer and was found to be working correctly. The volume is set to the lowest possible level whilst ensuring emergency announcements can be heard in all parts of the station. I understand that you have met with my head of Transport who will look into this further.
