Answer for Overseas Offices

Answered By:
The Mayor

I am aware of other regions of other countries, of Spain for instance, that have established offices in China. In addition, other regions of the UK are represented in China through the China Britain Business Council. Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow and the East of England have representation in 9 Chinese provinces. Substantial international and national contacts with China are growing. Between 2000 and 2004 China's GDP grew at an average of 8.5% and it is expected to remain strong with a projected growth of 9.1% in 2005 and 8.1% in 2006, according to the EIU. It is predicted to be the world's largest economy by mid-century. Irrespective of the activities of our competitors, it is essential that London is represented in China, to ensure that mutual trade links can be established and its culture better understood.
