Peter Hendy (Commissioner, Transport for London)

We have investigated the problems. A recent review of usage of route 242 showed that the scheduled service capacity is adequate. However, the 242 has been delayed recently, and it is likely that these delays led to the reports of crowding you have received.

The delays coincided with the recent closure of Lea Bridge Road, due to resurfacing at Kenninghall Road, and also for three weekends after this at the junction of Lower Clapton Road and Dalston Lane, when roadworks and resurfacing caused severe delays. The 242 should now be operating more reliably, and constituents should find it much easier to board.

If there are any further complaints however please let us know and we will investigate (contact details below).
