Answer for Fireworks on Buses

Answered By:
Peter Hendy (Commissioner, Transport for London)

In the month leading up to bonfire night, there were 38 reports made to London Buses about fireworks being set off on buses. It is clearly extremely hazardous setting off fireworks on any form of public transport, and risks the safety of passengers and staff. Even without a direct injury, an explosion occurring in a closed environment will cause a substantial noise which could lead to damaged hearing.

TfL take this issue very seriously and certainly consider it a public danger which needs to be addressed with strong penalties for anyone caught misusing fireworks.
