Answer for Western Extension

Answer for Western Extension

Peter Hendy (Commissioner, Transport for London)

ANPR cameras were installed for the western extension this year. These cameras would still be needed even if it was decided to upgrade the congestion charging scheme with tag and beacon technology when the scheme is re-let in 2009/2010.

However the contract with Siemens (which expires in 2016) does allow for cameras to be replaced or upgraded should it be beneficial for future maintenance and operation.
