Question

That is great. Can you guarantee to me here that cycling will be a priority for Transport 2025 and that you will at least achieve the Government target on things like at least half of all primary school children having cycle training by 2009?

I need a little bit of notice about the extent to which we either can meet, or hopefully, exceed the Government's target. I do not need any notice to tell you that contrary to supposition we did get some money from the cycling supplement next year and, if they have a bigger fund the year after, we will ask for money. We are keen to do that. I think in the bowels of the organisation it is not always clear whether or not the priority that has been afforded by yourselves and by Ken [Livingstone] is demonstrated in early drafts of the budget documents but, by the time they get to being spent, those sums will be there.
