Question

Despite the new regulations, there were still this year numerous complaints about fireworks being let off late in to the night, animals being terrified and vandalism caused by people misusing fireworks. Will you now join with me on calling on the Government to now introduce a total ban on the sale of fireworks to private individuals?

Answer

Answer for Fireworks

Answer for Fireworks

I agree that fireworks per se should not be available to the public without a licence and welcome more effective controls. As stated in the past, I have no wish to deny the general public the pleasure associated with firework displays. The interests of public safety are paramount and would be best served if the sale of fireworks in the shops were stopped. I would therefore support any moves for further regulation.
