Bendy buses were first introduced in November 2003. At this time, the number of Revenue Protection Inspectors stood at 167. The additional 60 Inspectors now employed have been recruited based on network growth, fare evasion rate trends, changes in the ticketing framework and route based ticket checking performance targets. The additional costs are approximately £2.5 million per annum.
