Question

The 2006 bus and tubes fares package aims to encourage those who can to move to a cashless system when buying tickets. However, some Londoners will need to continue to use cash to top up their Oyster pre-pay by small amounts, sometimes just enough for a single journey. Where will Londoners be able to do this and how will you advertise how this can be done?

Oyster cards can be topped up by small amounts at all Oyster outlets ' at any Underground station and at any of the 2,000 plus Oyster Ticket Stops in the high street. Only around 9% of bus travel is now paid for on the vehicle. The remainder is already bought off bus from stations and TfL's high street outlets. A series of promotions and campaigns to advertise the benefits of Oyster is being planned for the autumn and spring periods in order to encourage the maximum switch-over from cash to Oyster fares.
