Are you satisfied with the maintenance regime for bus ticket machines in Central London? I have had many reports of machines at bus stops being out of service, causing problems for passengers on ticketless buses.

Yes I am, although the illegal practice of `blocking" the coin acceptance mechanism in machines has proven to be a problem in the last few weeks. It is likely that this is the source of the complaints you have received.Almex, the supplier and operator of these machines, have developed an attachment for the ticket machines to make `blocking" much more difficult, for short term implementation. They have also developed a more permanent improvement to the machines, although the development has yet to undergo testing. Almex will bear the cost of this work, although London Buses may provide some additional funding to speed production and implementation, if it proves necessary. .
