The Mayor

Question

I must say, Chair, I do not know how long this is going to go on but I am quite happy to spend two and a half hours duelling on this. I must say that the Mayor has clearly had a much more sheltered and naïve electoral life than, I suspect, anyone else in this chamber if he has never experienced any of this before. Certainly, I have experienced it time and time again from the Conservative and Labour parties over the last 30 years.

Chair, I have a list here of false claims made by the Labour candidate. I have copies from his website in which he clearly supports the Government action in the Iraq War. We can go on and on at this; I do not think it is going to help any of us very much. I revert to where I started: the Mayor is clearly predicting a Liberal Democrat victory in Brent East tomorrow. Can I end with an invitation? Next week, the Mayor visits the Liberal Democrat conference on Wednesday. May I extend an invitation to him to meet his new MP when he comes to the Liberal Democrat conference?
