The Hackney Chelsea Line is now known as Crossrail Line 2. Initial meetings have taken place with all the local authorities along potential Line 2 routes, introducing them to the proposal and hearing their first thoughts. Following a review of the Line 2 programme in late 2002, a decision was taken to defer Line 2 work until key decisions on Line 1 had been taken. This would also allow any lessons learnt from the development of Line 1 to be incorporated into a future Line 2 development programme. Core work on Line 2 has not yet resumed.A railway does not have to be an Underground railway to be fully integrated with the tube. Line 2, like Line 1, will be as integrated as possible with the tube and other modes of travel within London. It should, for example, adopt TfL's ticketing structure and station standards. .
