Question

I wonder if the Mayor could settle a dispute between John and I? If you can introduce buses - and you are the Chair of Transport for London - why can't you introduce Transport for London small vehicles, and run them? Introduce a small vehicle as part of your fleet. If you identified areas where you find the largest group of young people coming out of clubs, then you could introduce a Transport for London small vehicle service. Have you explored this? John says that Transport for London couldn't do this, but have you explored that approach?

I haven't explored that approach, and it's an attractive idea but sounds to me that it's going to take a lot of time. At the moment we've got TfL officers presiding over a huge expansion of the budget, a huge expansion of our bus service and we're struggling to find the resources to push things like Crossrail forward.
