The Mayor

TfL and I are committed to the highest possible levels of accessibility for all modes of transport, including the London Underground. TfL has an Access and Mobility Unit, which advises on accessibility, and we also have special advisors on the TfL Board who provide invaluable advice and guidance. However, under the terms of the PPP contracts, it is unclear that there will be any flexibility in terms of providing improved accessibility beyond the absolute minimum required under the law. In fact, the most recent drafts of the PPP contracts seen by TfL show a marked and material reduction in accessibility improvements to Underground stations. .
