Answer for Sales of fireworks

Answered By:
The Mayor

While I have no wish to deny the general public the pleasure associated with firework displays the interests of public safety are paramount and would be best served if the sale of fireworks in shops were stopped. I would therefore support any moves for further regulation.I do not have any statutory powers in respect of sales to the public of fireworks. However, the effect of anti-social behaviour on the safety of Londoners as a result of fireworks is a matter of concern and I would be in favour of a meeting between the relevant stakeholders to look at this issue further and assess a joint way forward. .
