The Transport for London Road Network (TLRN) comprises the GLA Roads and GLA Side Roads that the government defined in the legislation before TfL came into existence. There have already been amendments to the Network, although these have been minor in order to correct errors in the drafting of the legislation. I have no immediate plans for major expansion of the TLRN, although there are anomalies in that several strategically important roads were not included in the Network at the outset, nor were Side Road returns included off some of the TLRN main roads, primarily in Central London. My main concern is to ensure that London's main road network is operated efficiently, especially to ensure that buses can provide an effective service. Much will depend on how well the borough councils cater for buses and other essential road users as to whether moves should be made to expand the TLRN to enable me to ensure timely delivery of Transport Strategy. .
