For each of my statutory strategies I intend to consult widely but appropriately. Each policy and strategy area will necessarily have a differing level of salience with Londoners. Some, such as air quality, may generate more interest among stakeholder and professional or technical groups than amongst ordinary Londoners so I will tailor the approach to consultation for each strategy. This will be based on a considered estimation of likely interest, balanced by my strong desire to hear to voices of Londoners often excluded from traditional consultation exercises, but having regard to proper use of public money. Transport has an obvious day to day impact on more or less every Londoners life so it was right to have a high profile and extensive campaign to make people aware of the proposals in my draft transport strategy. Other strategies may have more resonance amongst particular groups or individuals so consultation will be targeted. .
