Question

Given that some London boroughs are demanding a separate planning application from the BT payphone service for each payphone box which has advertising, what provisions do you intend to make under the spatial development strategy to provide and facilitate advertising in public payphones, and to promote the existence of public payphones?

Clearly, in the interests of having a fairly consistent pattern of street furniture and urban design standards, it would be better to have a Londonwide position. I would be happy to have something referring to that included in the spatial development strategy when it goes out for consultation. Given the scale of illegal advertising of prostitution services on so many phone boxes in central London, it might be better to have something less exciting being advertised.
