The draft plan for London or proposals for the SDS will be published early next year. This will set out my initial thoughts on the future development of London as a basis for discussion with stakeholders. The statutory consultees at this stage are the Assembly and the functional bodies. However, arrangements are currently being finalised to consult a wider range of stakeholders, including the London boroughs. I intend to engage members of black and ethnic minority communities in this process, and will strongly encourage them to respond to the proposals document, so that their concerns are reflected in the work leading to the publication of the full consultation draft spatial development strategy in the summer.

Other interest groups I am very keen to encourage include women and people with disabilities. I must also point out that any individual Londoner will be able to respond to the document. I have not yet finalised the full list of all the consultees; this is because I have agreed to consult on the list with the Assembly via the Chair of the Transport Policy and Spatial Development Policy Committee before the full list is agreed. I am, however, confident that satisfactory arrangements will be made.
