Question

In the draft Transport Strategy, no commitment is made to the policing of cycle lanes. Will the Mayor confirm that London's cycle lanes will receive the same protection as bus lanes?

I agree that effective enforcement of cycle lanes is very important.

The draft Transport Strategy supports measures to make the cycling environment safer and makes a commitment to work with the Police, the Association of Local Government and London Boroughs to deliver better traffic enforcement throughout London. This will have benefits for all road users " including cyclists.

Cyclists will also benefit from more effective enforcement of bus lanes, and we are working closely with the boroughs on expanding on-bus cameras and CCTV for the enforcement of bus lanes.
