I made a manifesto commitment to increase the numbers of police officers on the streets of London and to reduce the fear of crime experienced by Londoners. This has been a priority in my budget discussions with the MPA and the MPS and I am consulting on a budget that will deliver an increase in visible front line policing. The Metropolitan Police have welcomed this and Sir John Stevens has assured me that this increase in investment will deliver more police on the streets in London. I have taken this advice and I will be closely monitoring progress.
