Answer for Business Advisory Group

Answered By:
The Mayor

Earlier this year I issued a statement on relations with the business community, which set out the essential features of my approach to forging an effective and productive partnership with business.

I appointed a special Cabinet Advisor on the City and business " Judith Mayhew, and seven top business people on to the London Development Agency Board. I appointed a Senior Economic Policy Advisor. I have also appointed business representatives on to other policy commissions (check).

I meet quarterly with existing representative business organisations, including the London Business Board. I have held two businesses round tables, one on e-commerce and the other on commercial property development. I recently hosted a reception for Asian businesses and have an officer working solely on developing that link. On my behalf the LDA is working with Business Link London to develop a range of support services for business. Furthermore Bob Kiley has been working closely with London"s business community on his proposals for the Underground. I am glad to have a number of secondees from business working in the GLA and LDA.

The Business Advisory Group will be formally established in the new year once the necessary staff are replaced to take it forward. In the meantime I am very pleased that my approach has found favour with the business community as demonstrated by a recent poll conducted by London Monitor were half of London's executives expect that my election as Mayor will be good for their business.
