: I think that my question has been misunderstood. It was about the allocation of resources in terms of police officers to the various boroughs. I will then ask a supplementary, which will be of interest to those representing outer London boroughs. If these additional 1,050 officers are recruited, do you think that Sutton and Croydon will see additional officers to their establishment next year?

At the meetings between the Commissioner, Toby Harris and myself, we have all agreed that Londoners will feel cheated if they do not see these extra officers appearing on their streets and staffing their local stations. That is my clear guidance, and I am certain that the MPA, on which there is a substantial presence of Assembly Members, must keep the commissioner and the Metropolitan Police Service under constant pressure to ensure that that is what happens to this extra staffing.
