Question

The Mayor's strategy is silent on a District Line extension, along existing lines, from Richmond to Wimbledon. Will he nevertheless look at this proposal as a possible relatively cheap enhancement to the network?

The possible extension of the District line from Richmond to Wimbledon has been considered in the past but the costs greatly exceeded the benefits..

As described in the draft Transport Strategy Transport for London are now considering the route for the proposed Hackey-South West underground line which could serve this corridor. This study will review all such previous proposals before recommending the way forward.
