Biography

Dr Alison Moore became a London Assembly Member in March 2020.

Before becoming a local politician, Alison had a career as a Scientist and Lecturer. She has also worked for an MP and as a Campaign Organiser.
She was elected as a local councillor in Barnet in 1998, serving as Cabinet Member for Education and Children from 1999 – 2002, as Deputy Leader and then as Leader of the Opposition from 2003-2005 and 2005 – 2016. Alison’s interests and experience as a local councillor have been wide and varied including Finance and Policy, Governance, Audit and Pensions as well as Health Scrutiny, planning and environment.

From 2014-2016 she was a Vice Chair of Barnet’s Labour Housing Commission and is interested in the role housing, regeneration and economic development can play in supporting communities. She has also campaigned alongside local parents on road safety and air quality and has a long standing interest in public transport connectivity in North London.

Alison has maintained her interest in education as an active school governor and was the Chair of the Advisory Board of her local Children’s Centre. She is currently a Trustee of the East Finchley Community Trust and of Barnwood N2 which is developing a small community woodland and eco project. She was for many years also a Trustee of the Phoenix Cinema Trust.

As an Assembly Member, Alison will to use her experience to support the work of the Assembly for Inner and Outer London during the current coronavirus crisis and it’s recovery.
