The UK has now left the EU and children and young people will need to apply under the EU Settlement Scheme if they’re an EU, EEA or Swiss Citizen. They will also need to apply if they are not an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen but they are a family member of one and their right to live in the UK is dependent on that family member.

The deadline to apply under the EU Settlement scheme was 30 June 2021 and you must have been living in the UK before 31 December 2020 to be eligible for pre-Settled Status or Settled Status. If you have missed the deadline, you can still apply to the scheme. It is important to apply for pre-Settled Status or Settled Status to protect your rights in the UK and avoid immigration enforcement.

You can find full information on your rights as an EU citizen, in a range of languages, at our European Londoners Hub.
