The Economy Committee scrutinises the work of the Mayor and investigates matters of importance to Greater London relating to economic development, wealth creation, social development, culture, sport and tourism in London.
The topics listed below have been agreed as priorities for the Committee’s work programme during 2015/16:
· The role of the third sector in employment and skills programmes. This is the Committee’s first investigation of the 2015/16 and you can find out more on the investigation page.
· Mayoral programmes and commitments on economic issues. The Committee will continue to scrutinise the Mayor’s economic programmes and commitments, including those related to apprenticeships, the London Living Wage and job creation.
· Connectivity. The Committee will continue its work exploring business connectivity in the capital and actions being taken to address barriers to connectivity.
· Fairness and flexibility in London’s labour market. The Committee will assess how fairness and flexibility are managed in the London labour market, the impact on employees, employers and the wider implications for London’s economy and labour market.
The Committee will continue to follow up on the Assembly’s
previous work on food poverty in the capital.
