Planning and Housing Committee

Purpose of committee

This Committee is no longer active and the information on this page is no longer updated.  A list of the current bodies of the Assembly can be found here.

The Planning and Housing Committee monitors the way the Mayor delivers on two of London's most important issues  – planning the future of the capital and housing its people - in order to ensure his proposals serve the future needs of Londoners. It examines the Mayor's Spatial Development Strategy (‘The London Plan') and the Mayor's Housing Strategy, which is particularly important whenever the Mayor revises or implements his policies. The Committee also monitors the Mayor's exercise of his statutory powers over major strategic planning applications when London boroughs ask the Mayor for his views.

You can find out more about the Committee's current work in the  investigations section  or view the reports it has published.
