Question and Answer Session - Elizabeth Line

It is recommended that the Assembly note the report as background to a question and answer session with guests on the Elizabeth line.

 

Part A:

 

The Assembly will put questions to Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London on issues associated with the opening of the Elizabeth line.

 

Part B:

 

Motion submitted in the name of the Chairman:

Part A:

 

3.1  The Assembly put question to Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London in his capacity as Chairman of Transport for London, and Mike Brown MVO, Commissioner,  Transport for London (TfL), Tony Meggs, Chairman of Crossrail Limited and Mark Wild, Chief Executive of Crossrail Limited on the delays to the opening of the central section of the Elizabeth line (Crossrail).

 

3.2  The record of the questions put by Assembly Members and the answers given is attached as Appendix 1.

 

3.3  During the course of the question and answer session the following commitments were made:

·  The Chief Executive of Crossrail Limited undertook to provide information regarding the budgetary costs and the duties of the drivers and technicians that were currently employed by Crossrail Limited;

·  The Chief Executive also undertook to confirm that 24 trains an hour was the outcome of stage 4, which was six months after stage 3;

·  The Mayor and Chairman of Crossrail Limited undertook to ensure that the minutes of Crossrail Limited Board meetings were published in a more timely way, noting that the minutes of the January 2019 meeting had not been published at the time of this meeting;

·  The Commissioner, TfL undertook to follow up with the Chairman and Chief Executive of Crossrail Limited regarding the publication on the TfL website of weekly briefing notes provided to the Mayor ahead of the opening of the central section of the Elizabeth line; and

·  The Mayor undertook to come back before the Assembly in six months’ time to provide an update regarding progress on the Elizabeth line.

3.4  The Chair formally moved the motion in the agenda, namely:

 

“That the Assembly notes the answers to the questions asked.”

 

3.5  Resolved:

 

  The answers to the questions asked be noted.
