Report of: Head of Paid Service

The Assembly is recommended to:

(a)  Noting thatit isa jointdecision withthe Mayor,confirmthatthe payaward of 1%madeto seniorGLA staffshouldalsobe madeto the Headof Paid Service and theExecutiveDirectorof Resources, as Statutory Officers; and

(b)  Note that,in accordancewiththe SeniorSalariesReview Body (SSRB)recommendation made and agreedin2009, thelocalgovernmentpaysettlementof1% for 2017-18 will beappliedto thepay ofthe Mayor and AssemblyMembers.

7.1  In accordance with Standing Order 1.10 and Section 100B(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Chair had admitted to the agenda an item of urgent business in relation to pay for the Head of Paid Service and the Executive Director Resources as Statutory Officers.

7.2  This was to ensure that the matter be dealt with at the earliest possible opportunity and noting that it was not possible to include it on the main agenda for the meeting as consultation with the Mayor and with the Assembly had not been concluded at that time. A report regarding this matter had been circulated under cover of a supplementary agenda.

7.3  The Assembly received the report of the Head of Paid Service.

7.4  Resolved:

(a)  That, noting that it is a joint decision with the Mayor, to confirm that the pay award of 1% made to senior GLA staff should also be made to the Head of Paid Service and the Executive Director of Resources, as Statutory Officers; and

(b)  That, in accordance with the Senior Salaries Review Body recommendation made and agreed in 2009, the application of the local government pay settlement of 1% for 2017-2018 to the Mayor and the Assembly be noted.
