The London Borough of Redbridge is in east London. It was created in April 1965.

The borough is known as the 'leafy suburb', with one quarter of the borough covered by forest and green.

Its name comes from a bridge over the River Roding which was demolished in 1921. The bridge was made of red brick, unlike other bridges in the area, which were made of white stone.
