The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is one of only four royal boroughs. It's located on the banks of the River Thames, just 12 miles from central London. The river travels through the borough for almost three miles.
Kingston town centre has over 500 stores, including smaller retailers and market stalls in the famous Market Place. It has a buzzing arts scene, with two local theatres – the Rose Theatre and the Arthur Cotterell Theatre – as well as comedy nights, galleries and museums. There is a colourful cafe culture, a well-respected university and great nightlife.
As well as a 100-year-old golf course, Kingston is also home to AFC Wimbledon, Wimbledon and RFU Twickenham.
