The Royal Borough of Greenwich borders the River Thames and has a rich royal and maritime history.

It has a growing population of over 250,000 residents and is home to quirky shops and street markets, including the Greenwich Covered Market. It has many iconic tourist attractions, such as the Cutty Sark clipper, the Royal Observatory and Prime Meridian (from which the world measures its location), Eltham Palace and Severndroog Castle, as well as the O2 Arena.

Having grown as a centre of industry between the eighteenth and early twentieth centuries, over the last twenty years Royal Greenwich has transformed itself through economic growth and regeneration.
