This exhibition looks at some of the events of the past year, put on or supported by the Mayor of London. These events celebrate London’s many communities. They also celebrate London’s heritage, culture and creativity. Cultural events happen all across London. There are citywide spectaculars like Lumiere, the UK’s biggest and most beautiful light festival. Many events happen in Trafalgar Square, like the Feast of St George, Diwali and St Patrick’s Day. The famous square also hosts the Fourth Plinth, a platform for public art that is world renowned. Others like London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks use our stunning river as a backdrop.
This exciting programme draws huge numbers of Londoners and visitors all year round. No other world city even comes close. Culture, arts and events offer brilliant opportunities to bring different people together. Major cultural events are a fantastic way to surprise and excite people from across the globe. They’re one reason London became the world’s top travel destination in 2015. Enjoy the journey through some of last year’s amazing events presented by the Mayor’s Culture and Events teams.
