In 2015, the event was ticketed again, which means you needed a ticket to come to the display. The celebrations were ticketed for the first time in 2014 to make sure the event stays a safe and fun night for all.

Unicef’s New Year’s resolution for children
The Mayor of London is supporting Unicef, the world's leading children's organisation, to help children in danger around the world.

Why was ticketing introduced?
Ticketing was introduced for London's New Year's Eve in 2014 as crowd numbers had increased dramatically in recent years. So, after consulting widely, it was decided that ticketing was the best way to manage crowd numbers and make the event a safer and more enjoyable experience.
Our review of London New Year’s Eve 2014 showed that the new ticketed format was a success. It reduced crowds in central London and everyone with a ticket had a better night as they were guaranteed a view of the display.
