Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square Christmas Carol Singing Programme 2017

The Carol Singing Programme for Christmas 2017 runs from Monday 11 – Friday 22 December, excluding Tuesday 12 and Saturday 16 December 2017.

Applications are now been accepted for the waiting list for this programme.

Information on the programme

The Greater London Authority (GLA) provides one-hour sessions for groups to use for carol singing at the base of the Christmas Tree in Trafalgar Square. In order to retain a more traditional form of carol singing a PA system and stage will not be provided. This enables an intimate and enjoyable experience for carol singers and audiences alike, more suitable for Trafalgar Square at Christmas time.

The sessions provided should not be used for anything other than carol singing.

You may collect on behalf of a registered charity for the duration of your hour’s slot. Please note that the GLA has no means to guard or protect charity collection buckets and groups must make appropriate arrangements for collection and storage.

Groups may bring a keyboard, battery powered amplifier or small acoustic ensemble to act as accompaniment to the singers. To achieve best effect in the space it is recommended that choirs consist of a minimum of 30 singers.

Please note there will be no access to power.

Sessions are available for one hour only from 4pm to 7pm weekdays (with the last session finishing at 8pm) and a 2pm to 5pm timeslot on Sunday 17 (with the last session finishing at 6pm).

We are currently not taking bookings for Saturday 16 December 2017.

Further information and final permissions will be issued to successful applicants when all information on the programme has been finalised.

Apply to the waiting list and you will be contacted as and when spaces become available.
