Tram and Bus Safety

Start date: 10 September 2019
End date: 10 March 2020

Safety on London’s trams has been of grave concern since the 2016 Croydon tram crash in which 7 people were killed.

An independent investigation into the crash found driver error to be the main cause.

Transport for London has been accused of a lack of accountability and transparency in the aftermath of the crash when providing information for the investigation.

The London Assembly Transport Committee is currently investigating the safety of London’s trams and current safety procedures in place.
