How to apply
- use our current vacancies page to find the jobs that interest you. You can sign up to receive vacancy alerts
- the job advert will provide you with all the key information you need to decide if this job is right for you. Click on ‘Apply now’ at the bottom of the advert when you are ready
- you will then be redirected to our online recruitment system: EngageATS. If you're a new user you will need to register your details to create a user account. Check the FAQ page for more help
- submit your application and wait to hear from us. We contact all candidates to let you know whether or not you have been successful
Deadlines for applications
All job vacancies will close at 23.59 on the closing date (given on the job advert).
Please make sure you give yourself enough time to complete and submit your online application form before this closing time as we cannot accept late applications.

What to expect at application stage
All our vacancies are advertised online. The purpose of completing the application form is to enable you to be shortlisted for interview. Application forms are matched against the requirements set out in the person specification to create a shortlist. You may find it useful to read our advice for completing an application form.
Unfortunately due to the large volumes of applications the GLA receives we are not able to offer feedback to those unsuccessful at application stage.

What to expect at interview
Selection processes will vary depending on the role, but as a minimum you should expect to complete an application form and, if shortlisted, attend a panel interview.
We will often ask candidates to complete a test exercise as well as an interview. All test exercises are designed to test the skills, knowledge and experience required to be successful in that role. This may include a written exercise, an in-tray exercise or preparing and delivering a presentation.

Our commitment to equality
When you apply you will be asked to complete a ‘recruitment monitoring questionnaire’. This form is separate from your application form and treated with the utmost confidence. It is not shared with the selection panel and will not form any part of the selection process. We strive to reflect the diversity of London across all areas of the GLA and only ask for this information as it helps us monitor the fairness of our selection procedures.
When you apply you will also be asked to disclose details of all criminal convictions, cautions or bind-over orders that are not spent. This information will be treated with the utmost confidence and is not shared with the selection panel or form any part of the selection process. Only at conditional offer stage will the information provided in this section be reviewed and only those deemed relevant to the appointment will be considered.

If you are successful, formal offers of employment will be subject to you:
- providing proof of address and verification of your identity and right to work in the UK, in accordance with the provisions of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Under sections 15 to 25 of this Act, an employer can be guilty of a criminal offence if it employs someone who is subject to immigration control who does not have permission to be in or work in the United Kingdom
- providing the names of two people who can act as referees; one of these must be your present or most recent employer. Final acceptance depends on these reference checks being satisfactory
- receiving satisfactory medical clearance. You will need to complete a medical questionnaire (which we will send you) which will then be sent to our occupational health medical advisor
- receiving satisfactory clearance of your disclosure of criminal convictions, cautions or bind-overs that are unspent
