Niran Mothada

Executive Director of Strategy and Communications

Responsible to the Chief Officer for the leadership and performance of the functions allocated to the GLA’s Strategy and Communications directorate covering:

  • Strategy
  • Intelligence & analysis
  • External relations
  • Media
  • Information governance
  • Internal communications
  • Government relations
  • City Operations
  • Fire & Resilience (supporting Deputy Mayor)
  • Contributing proactively and collaboratively to the Corporate Management Team (CMT).


Biography

Prior to joining the GLA, Niran spent 22 years in the Civil Service, working in HMRC, Cabinet Office, HM Treasury, the Home Office and recently DEFRA. Niran has a breadth of experience, gleaned from the Civil Service Fast Stream and the Senior Civil Service, covering law enforcement, operations, strategy and communications.

Niran is incredibly proud of the time she has spent in government, where she has established new teams and brought people together across government to solve complex problems impacting on the lives of the people of the UK. She has championed diversity as a senior leader in the Civil Service and will continue to do so at the GLA.

At the GLA, Niran is committed to serving her own vibrant and exciting community of London.

Niran has two teenage boys and lives with her husband and children in North West London.
