Improving Educational Outcomes for Children Looked After

The Hub aims to improve educational outcomes for looked after children in schools by sharing good practice. The Hub aims to improve educational outcomes for looked after children in schools by sharing good practice.

The Fostering Network

This hub will work closely with Virtual School Heads to hold networking sessions for designated teachers across London. The aim of the hub is to improve educational outcomes for looked after children in schools by sharing good practice, increasing peer support for Designated Teachers and connecting them with foster carers.

The Fostering Network will establish a pan-London network for Designated Teachers to meet. These meetings will take the form of twilight sessions chaired by a Virtual School Head and hosted at universities across London. The content of the sessions will focus on sharing good practice between individual schools, as well as bringing in foster carers to offer an insight into their role.

The network will be complemented by a local school hub in Croydon managed by Achievement fo All, which will offer support and host hub meetings to ten other schools located around it. A representative from the hub school will act as a conduit to share practice and ideas between the pan London and local groups.
