Planning is all about how we use the space around us and where we build new buildings. The Mayor of London has produced the London plan to make sure that the space we have is used well. If people want to build really big buildings or make loads of houses then they need to get the ok from the Mayor. If it is just a few houses or a new playground then the local Council will tell people if it is ok for them to build it or not.
