‘Getting Ready for the Games and Beyond’ is a community programme to help youth clubs get better equipped to run sport and physical activity sessions. The programme will be supported by:

  • five sub-regional sports development officers
  • local taster sessions
  • level 1 sports training or equivalent
  • coaching packs and resources
  • sports equipment
  • local competitions
  • sub-regional competitions
  • pan-London competitions
  • sport specific volunteers.

The aim is that every young person involved with 'Getting Ready' will have the chance to take part in a physical activity they enjoy regardless of previous experience. This will boost participation young Londoners’ participation - beyond talent and the school gate.

This enables young people to:

· meet and learn from sporting media professionals and their sports heroes
· practice the latest media skills in a real-life environment
· build their confidence, communication and team working skills.
