East Potential

Film East is a project offering a dozen courses in film production and print media arts. Those taking part will develop the skills to produce twelve top-quality short films along with marketing materials. The project will include two courses in event management and production, helping the participants to organise two events with other community-made films. These events will help show more young people what is possible.

Course participants will access to the excellent facilities at Circus Media Centre and Focus E15 Media Suite in Stratford, as well as outreach services in each borough. This means those taking part will also be to develop skills in their own time with help from a Media Facilitator, available twelve hours a week. Circus Media Centre will also provide specialist media facilitators, links to the industry, progression routes, and mentoring.

Who is it for? The project will engage young people aged 16-25, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across six boroughs (Newham, Tower Hamlets, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham, Waltham Forest and Havering).

When does the project start? The project is scheduled to run from March 2009 – March 2012.
